LANCE HUNTER, AWS, NWS

In the last decade, Lance Hunter received more than thirty awards in national and international watercolor exhibitions. He is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society (NYC) and the National Watercolor Society (SoCal). His watercolors are featured in seven books including the last five volumes of Splash: Best of Watercolor published by North Light Books. In 2015, a portrait by the artist was featured on the cover of Watercolor Artist, the leading watercolor publication in the States. More recently, Snow Melt, a painting by Hunter was featured across the starting pages of the Best of Watercolor 2020 magazine’s showcase of contemporary watercolors.

Lance’s oil paintings have been published in International Artist magazine and in American Art Collector magazine several times.  His art has exhibited in museums and galleries in Europe and in many major cities in the United States. In addition to his studio work, Hunter has completed more than twenty large scale murals in five states. His mural work was published in an international book and numerous magazines.

Hunter received a MFA in painting from Stephen F. Austin State University. He is currently a Professor of Art at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma teaching painting, watercolor and figure drawing classes. Hunter is very proud of his two children, Brooke and Chase. In 2020, Brooke graduated with honors from the Laguna College of Art & Design in California. Her work was recently published in Southwest Art and Best of Drawing magazines.
